COMMUNITY DRAMA
The process of working with a group of actors that are part of a community sees as an issue the intrinsic separation of the members of the community itself.
Members which are different in gender, experience, privileges etc. can be part of a community and work together. It makes the work harder, but more inclusive.
Within every community there can be separations and differences, nonetheless the richness and wide spectrum of people involved in the different communities are fascinating and enriching.
The aim is to define the members of this community as humans first of all, than the other aspects of each member’s humanity can be considered.
Due to the sometimes sensitive nature of their diversity most of the participants will have had different and relatable experiences. Some have encountered abuse weather physical, mental or sexual and will particularly benefit of the raise of self-esteem that is typical when working in a theatrical setting.
It is very likely to find members of the community which are also part of other minorities. It could be ethnical or different able bodies for example. All these people come together and can work through making something aesthetically beautiful that is about their issues and needs.
Moreover the performances can be aesthetically noteworthy and can touch, move or amuse members that are not part of the community itself. By performing and sharing the issues which are typical for some people anyone can identify with some aspects of what is portrayed and the alien notion of these differences cease to be as far as it was and becomes more accesible, and enjoyable.

The devising process gives everyone the chance to explore and experience different sides of the Theatrical production, without stopping at performing. Stage Managing, Sound and Lights as well as Design (props, costume, set.) are available for the participants interested as additional tools to learn.
